I am a retired teacher that has always been drawn to most anything creative including drawing & painting. I began by drawing and sketching on napkins at the dinner table when I was very young. My dream was to become a graphic artist. I have done contract paintings for restaurants, large indoor building graphics and some business logos. I've yet to take an art class...

I gave up art in my 20's for family and a career in education. But several years ago I returned to the one thing I have always loved. My recent artist journey has taken me to painting Garden Posts. I do them for friends and family and friends of friends. I don't do it for money...I do it because I love to create.

I paint the posts full of flowers and other things found in gardens (frogs, butterflies, birds, lady bugs, etc.) but are not intended to be botanically correct. They are bright colors that I hope people will enjoy. People in Colorado, Oregon, Michigan and around central Iowa display my posts and artwork in their gardens or indoors, on their decks, front porch or sunrooms.

My more recent creative outlet has been photography. I enjoy sunrises, sunsets, and old Iowa Barns and abandoned buildings. I want to capture the beauty and character of the old barns.

If you have questions or are interested in owning a hand-painted red oak post in 4 or 6 foot, please contact me at Iowa.53.Art@gmail.com

I hope you enjoy.
